Counseling with a sexologist

New services at the clinic

– Counselling in sexology

We are happy to announce our new service at the clinic: counselling in sexology. Counselling offers psychosocial support to address current issues that you struggle with. A counselling process helps you find the tools to face daily difficulties that arise from sexuality. It is generally a short to mid-term process compared to sex psychotherapy, which is typically longer. You can consult individually or as a couple.

We are aware that it can be hard to access psychotherapy so we offer this service to start a process with a trained sexologist. This can help to alleviate symptoms and hardships that you are struggling with at the moment until we can offer you a spot with a sexologist and psychotherapist. Sometimes, counselling in sexology is all you need to answer your needs and move away from a difficult situation, without the need for psychotherapy afterward. A sexologist who offers counselling has obtained a bachelor in sexology and has to be part of the Ordre Professionnel des Sexologues du Québec (OPSQ).

What is psychotherapy by a sexologist and psychotherapist?

To be able to practise psychotherapy, a sexologist and psychotherapist must have completed their masters in sexology and obtained a permit of psychotherapist from the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). This clinical training allows us to evaluate sexual difficulties and to determine the causes and ways to treat them at the source. Generally, psychotherapy requires to be seen on a regular basis (every week or 2 weeks) while counselling can be more punctual. Psychotherapy will explore in-depth the nature of your personality, relationship patterns and insecurities through a specific clinical approach. This can take from 10 to 20 sessions and sometimes more. This allows a proper and profound evaluation and exploration of the issues at hand to get to the root causes. This also allows you to completely integrate profound changes that are necessary to live a more fulfilling and satisfying sex life.

COST: 110$-120$ for a 50-minute session.
